A short history

A short history

The RiNo Art District was once an industrial hub, home to foundries, pattern shops, and other industrial enterprises that helped build Denver’s economy. During the 80s, the industry began moving to the city’s core, leaving vacant warehouses and commercial buildings in RiNo.

As prices were affordable and there was plenty of space, artists began moving in. In 2005, Tracy Weil and Jill Hadley-Hooper created the River North Art District, and the creative community flourished.

Now, River North Arts District is a hub of creative businesses, including art galleries, furniture makers, photographers, architects, and more. It’s got a small population of just over 5,200 and a strong community vibe that draws in a young crowd.
