The Colorado Chautauqua started back in 1898. At the time, the Texas Board of Regents wanted to set up a summer school for teachers and picked Boulder for its cooler climate. It’s the only Chautauqua west of the Mississippi River that has been in continuous operation since the Chautauqua Movement in the 1920s.

Every Monday throughout Summer, you can catch a hike concert put on by Jeff and Paige called Meadow Music. It starts with a nature hike that leaves from the park at 5:30pm and ends with a buzzing music performance on the green. 

This is popular with families since the performance is aimed at children aged eight and under.

The Auditorium is the perfect spot to watch a concert in the summer. You’ll find folk, rock, and pop concerts all set in the huge converted barn. There’s even a music festival that brings a range of new and recognized talent to Chautauqua every year.
